Location
Nestled within the world's largest
Ponderosa pine forest in Flagstaff, AZ, the manufacturing facility
and staff of Evergreen Cabinetry has over 20 years of experience
in manufacturing high-quality modular cabinets. Evergreen Cabinetry
offers one of the only viable solutions for “green cabinets” in
the market today.
Our Commitment
Evergreen Cabinetry is committed to
the manufacture and sales of environmentally friendly, state-of-the-art
frameless cabinetry. By eliminating the use of volatile organic
compounds (VOC) such as formaldehyde from standard cabinet production,
a cabinet now leaves a considerably smaller carbon footprint.
Formaldehyde
Evergreen Cabinetry offers some products that eliminate
materials which contain formaldehyde from the production of cabinetry
all-together to created some of the most eco-friendly cabinets
in the industry to date. Formaldehyde, is listed as a known
human carcinogen by the American Cancer Society.
Other Volatile
Organic Compounds (VOC's)
Some VOC's in finishes are considered
carcinogenic, such as formaldehyde, which is listed as a known
human carcinogen by the American Cancer Society. Apart from its
carcinogenic properties, breathing formaldehyde gas can cause
headaches, fatigue, respiratory irritation, and flu-like symptoms.
In a 1999 study in Environmental Science and Technology of formaldehyde
emissions from consumer products, one wet floor finish (an acid-cured
finish available only for professional use) scored highest of
any product tested. More recently, tighter EPA emissions standards
have helped to reduce the amount of acid-cured finishes on the
market in the U.S., and many manufacturers have shied away from
acid compounds due to their high formaldehyde emissions. However,
there are still some professional uses, particularly cabinet-making
and curing, in which these compounds are still utilized.
Although there are different levels
of VOC toxicity, VOC's commonly found in stains, paints and adhesives
tend to produce noxious (poisonous) fumes that quickly evaporate
into the atmosphere when used with both natural and manufactured
products.
Substances used in the manufacture
of standard cabinetry today are applied stains, paints and sealants
used to protect the cabinets from moisture and heavy wear—scratches.
Some of these solvents or water-based petroleum products contain
natural oils and distillates or are 100% synthetic polyurethanes,
all of which are derived from petroleum. These distillates allow
the solutions to remain in a liquid form until used. They also
act as a binder holding the ingredients together until it hardens
into a film once it dries on the wood surfaces.
Professional kitchen and bath designers
will now have the option of offering what is considered “green
cabinetry” with outstanding quality of construction and many of
the same choices found in standard modular cabinets. Both homeowners
and contractors need not look any further when considering cabinets
that provide a low impact on the environment and yet provide an
exceptional value.
Evergreen Cabinetry uses state-of-the-art
computerized equipment, machinery and finishing systems to provide
the perfect balance of precision, quality and value.
